Louisiana may have a dearth of mountains, but it is not lacking in beautiful scenery. This view is just an example of the scenery one might see when visiting Cocodrie Lake (pronounced kuh-COR-dree by the Cajuns in the area). The lake is really a 6,000-acre swamp located in Evangeline Parish. There is no obvious lake at all. Just a forbidding cypress swamp with a narrow route into its dark recesses.
