Salafi Islamism Dangers to the World

With regard to Salafi government there is no such thing as secular democracy. Nothing could be tighter on personal liberties than the Salafi sect of Islam. A possible metaphor might be an old fashioned woman's corset with bone stays in that Salafi women are allowed to breathe with difficulty but are held rigidly in their place with virtually no freedoms that women in other cultures enjoy.

The area currently covered by a new Salafi Crescent roughly corresponds to the coastal states bordering the eastern end of the Mediterranean. Their constitution, if one existed, would be pure and unedited Koran. Progressive Islamists that appear to lean toward more democratic forms of government are afraid of the Salafi movement.

Salafis are driving a wedge between Shiite and Sunni Muslims. They are noted for being the most anti-western of any of the Islamist parties.

The Wahhabis support and inspire the Salafis. Wahhabis are a puritanical sect of Saudi Arabian Sunni Islamists. Not all Saudis are Wahhabis and all Salafis are not Wahhabis. However, most Wahhabis are Salafis. Inflexibility and enforceability are the main traits of the Salafi sect. Salafis are most opposed to rights of minorities and women.

Salafis are a militant group of extremist Sunnis who believe themselves the only correct interpreters of the Koran and consider moderate Muslims to be infidels. They seek to convert all Muslims and to insure that its own fundamentalist version of Islam will dominate the world.

Further information can be found here with regard to making one aware of the real danger of the Salafi branch of Islam.
