Kids Always Say the Damnedest Things

Art Linkletter hosted House Party, a radio and TV show that ran from ran 1945 to 1969. Best remembered was a segment called 'Kids Say the Darndest Things'. It was estimated that Linkletter interviewed 23,000 children between ages of 5 and 10 years. I think that the fictitious kid quoted below would have been a good candidate, had the ED commercial existed back then.

At an Easter Sunday service, the pastor of a Baptist church called all of the little children to the front of the church. All were dressed in their Easter finest. The pastor had them sit around him.

He said "Today is Easter and you all look so handsome and beautiful. Today we're going to talk about the resurrection. Does anyone know what the resurrection is?"

One little boy raised his hand, and the pastor said "Please tell us what the resurrection is."

The boy, proud that he knew the answer, said in a clear loud voice, "When you get one lasting more than four hours, you gotta call a doctor!"

Bill Cosby also hosted Kids Say the Darndest Things, a TV comedy series based on a recurring segment within Linkletter's original show. It aired for a full season from January 9, 1998 to June 23, 2000.

Linkletter had a reputation for never using a script and never rehearsed his shows.
