Church 200 Years Out of Date

Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini, Archbishop of Milan

Il Papa, head honcho of ‘the’ church, obviously has a closed mind and is confined to tradition and doesn’t see the need to be constructively creative. Of course he was elected by a group of like minded old men.

In his last interview given shortly before his death on 31 August, one of the very few Princes of the Church with sufficient brass balls publicly stated, “The Vatican is 200 years behind the world.” That person was Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini, Archbishop of Milan. Corriere della Sera, the largest Italian daily, published that interview.

Damn! Did that ever cause the pope and his minions to get their knickers in one helluva knot.

See more about Martini's statement.

Seems that, with few exceptions, the Roman Catholic Church’s College of Cardinals is not much different from the US Senate. Probably the most distinctive difference that’s evident is that 25% of the cardinals are over eighty years old. A similarity is that neither group sees the need to be constructively creative.
